Friends,

Just when things start to get boring, a little excitement kicks up! Yesterday morning, Menchie took my temperature and it was 101.3. Probably why I was feeling a little weak and poorly. This is over the threshold for calling the hospital. I called and they told me to come right in! They took some samples and put me right on Vancomycin. The fever kept going up. The highest temperature was 38.5 C. That's when they put me on ice again. I can't begin to express how much fun it is to have ice packs under each arm and in the groin. I think everyone should try it. Anyway, the fever started coming down. Now, the other problem with Vancomycin is that it causes Red man Syndrome in people with sensitive skin. Well, that is me. My arms, hands, legs and chest are now turning bright red, like a sunburn. It tends to be pretty itchy too. I spend the night in the hospital, and am now getting another dose of Vancomycin. I will have to come in to the hospital on a daily basis now to get the antibiotic until my recovery is further along. The good news is that the fever is down and I am back to my normal cool self. I will be heading home from the hospital in an hour or so probably.

On the medical front, it looks more and more like recovery has started. More monocytes, and the platelets are still rising. Hemoglobin and RBCs are still falling slowly. The treatment for the fever includes Vancomycin, as I said above, and Rosephin. To counteract the effects of those drugs, I am also getting Tylenol and Benadryl. No other problems at the moment! I am still taking all of the other drugs orally
