October 24, 2006 , Day 7

Friends,

Good evening everybody! Menchie and I have had a busy, interesting day. Lots of sleep. Then Menchie took me for a wheelchair ride. When we came back we discover my nurse was putting on another one of those razor tipped suction wands. That took an hour or so to clean up.We had a delightful time visiting with one of the doctors. I was a lot more energetic today, so I took a long shower. I had a cool refreshing saline rinse in the shower with none of the potential problems. It was the best saline rinse I have ever had. Later in the day, I considered taking another shower so I could enjoy the saline rinse again. Anyway, my aunt and uncle dropped in, so I had to get out of the shower. We enjoyed their visit immensely. Menchie and I spent part of the rest of the day thinking about fun things you could do with the excess mucous you have when you get mucositis. After a lot of setup work, we did more on our jigsaw puzzle. "The new California White Whin". I will have to work that up some more with my friend Bill. Bill knows who he is.

On the medical front, my wounds seem to be healing slowly. I was initially told that this would only happen if engraftment had occurred. But the swelling is down. Maybe the sores getting better means that engraftment has occurred. I can actually move my lips a little.
