October 21, 2006 , Day 4

Friends,

You guys are SOOOO generous when you say I am writing intelligably while on the Mophine. I am working hard at it keeping everything grammatically correct, but that never was one of my strong points scholastically. It really is a lot harder now. My day today has been much like yesterday. At least once per hour, and usually every 5 minutes, the back of my throat fills with mucus. If I don't suck it out immediately, it stops my breathing, so I like to get that cleared right away. I keep falling asleep with things half finished.

On the medical front, I had my first platelet transfusion. I didn't notice when it was hung and it went down without a hitch. The tylenol worked like a champ yesterday for lowering my fever, but this morning it was too painful to swallow and I aspirated some of it, setting off a very painful coughing fit. So we have been doing the freezer bag thing, packing myself in ice.

Lab Results: Nothing real significant here. The platelets should be back up again tomorrow.
