October 04, 2006 , Day -13
Friends,
Just when you think you have a plan, everything changes. I was discharged from the hospital today after doing a new simulation with the radiation/oncology people. We will start the radiation over again next Tuesday. I guess we will continue doing this until I get it right. This time, I will by lying on my back with my torso at about a 45 degree angle, and my knees bent up quite sharply. My arms will be protecting my lungs by being folded up with my hands at my shoulders. I was in this position for over an hour today with no problems. Everyone wants to know why they didn't start out with this position. My doctor said, "It is sub-optimal." Anyway, I am looking forward to get things started, and sad that we have pushed everything back a week. Please don't come visiting at the hospital this week!
Menchie woke up this morning with a stuffy nose and a cough. That is a problem for me, since they don't want me to get sick before I start treatments again. My doctor suggested that we stay in different houses until Menchie gets better. Since that is not entirely practical, we are staying in different rooms and using different baths, etc. Whenever Menchie is around me or anything that is going to be given to me, she needs to wear a mask. We both need to wash our hands constantly. What a drag! No, washing hands is OK, I just want Menchie with me all the time. Now I can't even be in the same room with her. Obviously, I was already been exposed to whatever she has, yesterday. We are waiting to see if I start showing symptoms, and trying to avoid getting it if I don't already have it.
No Lab Results today, but the doctor was happy with them.
