November 2, 2003, DAY #5
Friends,
I decided to start working on my update a little earlier today, so I don't fall asleep while thinking about what to write. Menchie did a great job though. Maybe I should just let her write them in the future. Of course that would defeat the theraputic effects a little probably.
Today is much like yesterday. I am tired and feeling a little nauseated late in the afternoon. The nausea is getting lighter and later each day, so maybe it will start going away. They gave me some extra anti-nausea medicine yesterday afternoon, and none today, so that does seem to be getting better. I am a lot more fatigued today than yesterday. It was much harder to go for my walks today. Today I am officially a neutropenic bubble boy. Still have a ways to go for the hemopheliac part, although that is borderline also. Probably tomorrow. That threshold is at 50 for the platelets. I am loosing weight slowly, also. In the last week, I have lost 2 - 3 pounds. Not bad. I still have a lot to give. The doctors would prefer that I not eat right now, because of the possible trauma it could cause to my mouth and digestive tract. I did drink a little water today. It seemed to help reduce heartburn a little. Apparently the hydrocortisone worked pretty good yesterday, because I slept through most of the Abelcet infusion.
Nothing new really on the medical front. I have 6 pumps now, but usually only 4 or 5 are active at any one time. Keep an eye on those lab results. Transfusions are given when HGB gets down to 85 and when PLT gets down to 25.
