November 10, 2004, Wednesday

Friends,

I had a couple of lab visits this month, and finally another doctor visit today. My creatinine is back down to 1.3, just a little high. The doctor is fine with that. He asked me today if I wanted to come back in 4 or 8 weeks. I thought I would be optomistic and chose 8 weeks, but he wasn't comfortable with that, so I will be going back in about 6 weeks on the 23rd of December.

Menchie got her call sign during the past month. It is KG6WNV, for anyone interested.

Last night Menchie and I went to our spin class. I rode 24 miles at an average speed of 13.3mph. By far my best spin class. I think I mentioned last time that we signed up for the Solvang Century. Saturday is our first training ride. We have to raise about $4000.00 in the next few months. If you would like to help, feel free to send a check or donate on-line at http://www.active.com/donate/tntsdh/tntsdhTWilcox. Thanks to all you wonderful friends who have donated already! We are going to Tucson in a week and a half to help our team with El Tour de Tucson. They will be riding 109 miles on the 20th.

Mzima Mall has bunches of new merchants on it like Buy.com, Home Depot, lots of jewelry and fragrance stores, and many, many more! As the holidays are coming up, please remember to buy your gifts by clicking through Mzima Mall. Your purchases will help researchers find a cure for blood cancers and potentially many other diseases. In addition to Toys, Flowers, and Gifts, you might want to think about buying fruit and other gourmet food gifts on Mzima Mall for your friends and families.

SpamKnot.com is up and running. Now I know that lots of you get spam! I used to get all sorts of pornographic and disgusting emails. I got dozens of drug and refinancing ads, as well as tons of fruadulent soliciations and bank frauds. Do you want your kids getting that garbage? I also found out that I wasn't getting lots of emails from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and other places that I wanted to get email from. Lots of viruses come into your computer via emails too. You don't want to block email at your computer, let us do it at the server! I don't get any unwanted emails any more. If you are fiddling with spam filters and depending on your ISP to block all of the spam, you are still getting lots of spam, and you are probably missing lots of legitimate emails. Go to www.spamknot.com immediately and sign up for the service. It's not very expensive, and you will find that your spam problem has gone away, you won't be getting any more fraud, unwanted ads, porn, and other digital garbage. If you have kids, or you get any spam, you need this service now! Please tell all your friends too!

On the Medical Front no real change in my condition except that I am a lot stronger on my bicycle. RBC and HGB are just below the normal range. WBC is still down, but coming up. Creatinine was 1.3. I didn't need a kidney workup. Just as a retrospective, here is an exerpt from my update of 1 year ago today on day 13:

"I started loosing hair yesterday, and it is falling like rain today. The really great news is the lab results. Check out that increase in WBC! [it went from 1.2 to 2.1] Everything is way up! .... It was wonderful being out feeling the sun and the breeze, and enjoying the roses and walking around the hospital grounds. What a rush! .... I ate real well today. Drank lots also. No sign of nausea yet."

It hardly seems possible loking at today's lab results and planning to go ride another 25 miles tomorrow evening after a full day at work. It is also interesting to remember how great it felt to be outside, and how exciting it was to see everything coming back up. Of course, I had no idea of the trials still ahead of me, or the joys.
