March 5, 2004 DAY #129

Friends,

It was a good trip to the doctor's office today. We heard the freeway was jammed because of an accident, so we left real early and went up the coast road. It was jammed too, but the scenery is nice. I am feeling much better. I'm beating the cold! My temperatures were normal all day, and it was a nice warm day. I wear a jacket to keep my arms protected from the sun, so I was pretty warm by the time I got to the doctor's office. I sat down on the examining table and took my jacket off, and looked at my arms, and they were covered with rash! I hadn't seen any rash when I was at home. I think being warm and getting blood flowing to my skin made it stand out! I was kind of staring at my arms when the doctor came in. The first words out of his mouth, before I said anything, were something like... "When you get an infection like you have, the white blood cells get activated, and GVH usually kicks up a bit. We will just leave everything the way it is and it will probably go away in a couple of days." Then he added that all the tests they did came out negative. That's positive! That means no Hepatitis, no C. Deficil, no really bad viruses, no bacterial infections. My lungs and heart sounded good, so that was it! My next appointment is with a dermatologist on Monday. We will be asking him about the red patches on my skin, in addition to the normal skin cancer screening that I normally get. I will summarize anything interesting in that visit in my regular Tuesday update after my oncology appointment.
