All,
It's a beautiful sunny day here in America's Finest City-San Diego! Lot's of golfers on the course and the ocean is calm. I am eating dinner right now and the food is great. My brother Bob and his family arrived here around noon from New Mexico. We had a pleasant visit and I am looking forward to spending time with them again tonight and tomorrow.
I forgot to mention yesterday that I had reached a major career milestone, my permanent appointment as a Captain in the Navy Reserve. We celebrated by looking at each other accross the bed:-)))))
I'ved been philosophizing a little about my treatment of this illness. The doctor first told me that the treatment will be a marathon rather than a sprint. To fill out the analogy, I picture this first week of treatment as the first mile of the marathon, full of energy and pumped up striding along easily. But I am sure as the treatment progresses life will become much harder, like a runner at 20 miles, tired, in pain, on his own and just moving forward on guts alone. I know that there will still be supporters by the side of the road cheering me on to the finish line.
Medical update, I had another transfusion today and started on day six of chemotherapy. The doctor's said they found no abnormal cells in my blood yesterday. This is very encouraging!
