Friends,
Really tired again tonight. Must be all that hard reading that I am doing for work. I had several visitors from SPAWAR today, which was fun. Last night was a good night with lots of rest. I have been developing lots of itchiness all over, but especially on the back of my legs. It itches like crazy! The hospital has a homemade recipe for lotion including Benadryl that calms down the rash wonderfully. I've been using it a lot. I only had a platelet transfusion today, because my HGB held steady. I asked the doctor about this, hoping it was a positive sign, but he wasn't encouraging:-(.
On the medical front, the doctor felt that some of the rashes were due to a drug reaction. Consequently, they have eliminated Rosephin from my cocktail of antibiotics and replaced it with Zosyn, which is administered every six hours by IV. They will continue the Vancomycin and see if the rash goes away. My Coumadin dose has been increased again to 12.5 mg and in response, my INR is up to 1.2. The goal is 2.0, in order for me to be out of the Heparin drip. Don't ask me what INR stands for:-) Otherwise, it has been a quiet day again, with no fevers, no bleeding, no other medical adventures. I am not bald yet, but I am getting there. I still have my eyebrows, though.
