December 04, 2007 , Day 413

Friends,

I think I missed a week again. Oh well. The weeks are becoming distressingly routine. Well, actually, we have been really busy. We have done a lot of shopping for shoes, computers, beds, and new cellphones. The list seems endless. We replaced our kitchen light fixture which never worked right. I went to my workouts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The workouts are still very difficult and I have to do the easiest form of almost everything. I am good at a few things because of my cycling, but not too many. On Sunday, the Peak Performance team met in Pacific Beach and walked through Pacific Beach and around Mission Bay a little bit. This last Sunday, Menchie and I walked 3 miles. I was pretty tired, but it was by far the longest hike I have taken in years, and I hit my goal. The Sunday before, the Peak Performance team went 20 minutes out and then came back. Whatever speed you went was OK. I walked about 1.6 miles in 41 minutes. Not blazing speed, but OK. Also this last Saturday, after a very hard workout, we went looking at bedroom furniture, which was quite a workout in itself, then we went to the Light The Night Walk with the LLS. We had to leave before the walk, because we had a holiday party with my Group at work. I think I knew about 10 people out of the 600 there. It was a nice dinner and we had fun anyway. By Saturday evening I was suffering from some knee pain and actually had my left knee collapse on me at the party. We left. I am feeling OK now. I think some rest today has done wonders for my leg muscles.

I would also like to thank those of you who have been so generous with your donations. I am almost finished now with the Peak Performance Fundraising, and I have to start on raising money for the Rock and Roll Marathon. Both Menchie and I will be doing that event, so we need to raise at least $1800.00 more. Any assistance you can give would be a wonderful Christmas gift to everyone who suffers from a blood cancer.

We found out about a really interesting program that some of you might be interested in. It is called Heartfelt Connections. The basic program is that you sign up for the program for $25.00. Hallmark gives you 5 cards designed to be motivational to a newly diagnosed blood cancer patient. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provides the name and address of a cancer survivor. You personalize the card and send it with the postal card that is included in the package, so that the patient can reply to you if they want to. I can imagine how wonderful it would be to get a card like this. Anyway, Menchie and I signed up for this program, and would invite others to do so also. The web site for this program is expected to be up and running in February next year. I will keep you advised of the progress of this program.

No doctor visit this week. Last week I got a filling done by my dentist. This week I will get two more done on Thursday.

Have a great week!
