Friends!

OK, OK, we are late with this one! Sorry already. We had a long boring visit to the hospital again yesterday. We didn't get the lab results until about 1000, and I needed two units of RBC, so we waited until about 1130 for the blood to show up, and it didn't. The nurse said that the blood bank here was out of blood and they wouldn't get any more until about 1230. So we went home for lunch. We are entertaining guests, friends of Menchie, and I had to drag Menchie back out the door to get back to the hospital. All for nothing, since the nurse was at lunch and we didn't get started with the transfusions until about 1400. It takes about 1 1/2 hours for each unit of blood, so we finished at about 1700 (thats 5:00pm for you landlubbers). We went home to rescue dinner from our guests. They had never barbequed before and had about 200 coals in my weber kettle :-). It was pretty hot. We had a great dinner! The guys talked about computers and the ladies talked in Tagalog. I don't know what they were talking about. Menchie tells me it was about the guys :-). After dinner we went driving around looking for the sunset, but the marine layer made it difficult. Then we went to the top of Mt Soledad to look at the city at night. It is quite impressive. I ran out of steam up there and we went back home and I went immediately to bed. I am back in the hospital this morning waiting for lab results. Probably need a platelet transfusion again today, but they are quick. Because my numbers are changing so much, the doctor wants me to come in every day for the time being.

On the medical front, there is still not much to tell. The platelets were up a little, back into double digits. I am now in the hyperchondriac mode, where I have to tell the nurses and doctors about every little ache and itch, just in case it is something important. However, everything is still OK!
