August 24, 2006, Day 14
Friends,
This is Ted back at the keyboard again. I am feeling somewhat better today, so I thought I would give the update a stab. Today has been similar to the last week or so, with fevers and chills, punctuated occasionally by breaks in the fever. I didn't get any transfusions today. They put me on a lot of new medicines. I didn't get lightheaded at all today. I was able to move around my room while being monitored by staff, and they let me take a walk. I managed about 50ft before I ran out of steam. After lunch I started feeling really nauseous, and it turned out they had stopped the nausea medicine. They got me the medicine and I felt fine pretty quickly. I did start getting Voriconazole and have had a few strobe effects in my vision, but not very strong. I am starting to lose my hair, so I will see if I can talk them into letting me cut it all off. Going for that sexy bald look again!
On the medical front - The results of the CT scan came in. The sinus scan revealed some swelling that would cause a post nasal drip. They said it was old. The chest scan revealed some spots which they are calling a very mild case of Pneumonia. They have not told me of any specific response they are making to that, but I assume that there is some. All of the blood bacterial cultures have been negative for several days now.
